This page explains how DentalWellness.com selects products to review, how we evaluate them, how we handle affiliate relationships, and what standards we hold our content to. We publish this information because we think readers deserve to know how the publication they’re reading operates.
Who We Are
DentalWellness.com is an independent editorial publication. We are not a dental practice, a supplement manufacturer, or a retailer. We do not employ licensed clinical providers, and we do not present our content as clinical advice. Our editorial team researches and writes about oral health products and the science of oral wellness for general consumer audiences.
How We Select Products to Review
Products are selected for review based on search demand, reader interest, commercial availability, and editorial relevance to our coverage areas. We do not accept payment from brands in exchange for reviews, positive coverage, or placement in comparison articles. Brands cannot purchase editorial coverage on this site.
We review products we have not been compensated to cover. Where a brand has provided a product sample for review purposes, we will disclose that in the article.
How We Evaluate Products
Our evaluation process varies by product category but consistently includes the following:
Ingredient and formulation research. For supplements and topical products, we review published research on each active ingredient. We distinguish between ingredient-level studies and finished-product clinical trials — these are different things, and we treat them as such. We note the study design, sample size, and what outcomes were actually measured.
Dose adequacy. We compare a product’s formulated doses against the doses used in the research cited to support the formula. Products that include studied ingredients at doses far below research thresholds are identified as such.
Claim accuracy. We examine product marketing claims against the evidence. Claims that lack research support are identified as unsupported. Claims that are technically accurate but misleading in context are identified as such.
Safety and contraindications. Where relevant, we note safety considerations, known drug interactions, populations who should consult a provider before use, and any concerns identified in the literature about long-term use.
Value. We consider price-per-dose, cost relative to comparable products, and whether a less expensive alternative uses an equivalent or better-evidenced formula.
Affiliate Relationships and Compensation
DentalWellness.com participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means that some links on this site — including links within product reviews — are affiliate links. If you click one of these links and make a purchase, DentalWellness.com may receive a commission from the retailer or brand at no additional cost to you.
Affiliate commissions are how this publication generates revenue. We disclose affiliate links clearly within every article that contains them, not only on this page.
Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial assessments. We do not adjust ratings, conclusions, or recommendations based on whether an affiliate relationship exists for a product. We have published critical and unfavorable reviews of products for which we carry affiliate links. The existence of a commission opportunity does not change our obligation to give readers an accurate picture of what the evidence shows.
Per FTC Endorsement Guide requirements (16 CFR Part 255), affiliate relationships are disclosed clearly and conspicuously in the content where they appear — not only in site-wide disclosures or footer text.
What We Do Not Do
We do not accept payment for positive reviews or guaranteed favorable coverage. We do not allow brands to review or edit content before publication. We do not fabricate or cite unverified claims as established fact. We do not use the language of clinical authority — we are not a medical or dental practice and do not present ourselves as one. We do not describe any product as able to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
Corrections Policy
When factual errors are identified in our content, we correct them promptly and note the correction within the article. If you believe a factual error exists in any article on this site, use the contact form to submit a correction request with supporting sources.
